For an emerging and developing country like India, development of underprivileged section of the society holds the key to the progress of the nation itself. Education for underprivileged is the key whether we are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights issues.
It is a national level program from Beyond Smiles Foundation which focuses on basic education for underprivileged children and youth and adults. Because education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: means, because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behavior to understanding one's rights - and in the process evolve as a better citizen. We firmly believe that education is the key to unlock the trap of poverty. 100% of your donations reach our project – all our work and expertise is given for free on a volunteer basis.
WHAT WE DO
- Project Shiksha is a participatory project where any individual or corporate can sponsor the education of a disadvantaged girl child for only Rs. 5000 - Rs.10000 a year (for a girl studying in junior or degree college). This sponsorship will not only change one life but also many other lives connected to the person.
- Each Shiksha donor receives a detailed profile of the girl they sponsor along with her photograph and two progress reports to keep them updated of how she is faring in both academic as well as extra curricular activities.
Shiksha – Girl Child Education
We support project Shiksha our initiative, which is a program to educate highly intelligent girls from deprived backgrounds and help them become economically independent. The project includes a mentoring environment that provides individual attention, counseling and grooming for the girls.
The program selects girls based on multiple criteria including enrollment in government schools, family income, parents' educational background, social background and the child's aptitude.
A comprehensive sponsorship is created to take care of a range of their educational requirements, providing not only academic support that enables them to make a success of their schooling experience but also material support including uniforms, school bag, shoes, socks etc. to enable the girl child to go to school with dignity. The material kit is ceremonially handed over to each child at the beginning of the academic year.
